Barnyard Opry October 7 Performance
Barnyard Opry welcomed and entertained 183 visitors tonight. The audience was treated to the musical guest talent of the MUSIC BARN BAND of Polkville. The group’s diverse program provided something for everybody. Arvis and Ray’s nonsensical tunes about how one couple’s relationship was rooted in their mutual fondness for snuff dippin’ and another’s, due to one partner’s snoring that resulted in their night time communication being carried out by bumpin’ on the wall from separate rooms, left the audience with knee slappin’ laughter. Jay and Lloyd and Floyd provided nostalgic moments with their renditions of such songs as All the Wagon Tracks Around the Church are Gone , Sing Me Back Home, and Cattle Call.
The Opry band, Country Sound, led off the show with Silver Threads and Golden Needles and a prayer of thanks for the blessing of the gathering and fellowship. Local guest artist, Mike Hendrick, joined the band with some of Marty Robbins’ great hits, including El Paso and White Sport Coat. Band member solos included Rodney’s train medley, Ron, Bobby, Martin’s renditions of Key Largo, This is Where the Cowboy Rides Away, Midnight Holler, and Steve (trying to prove he can still aggravate his Mom, Miss Barbara, just the way he probably did when he was a teenager) belted out Rednecks, White Socks, and Blue Ribbon Beer. The visitors, knowing Miss Barbara for the dignified lady she is, always get a good laugh out of Steve’s nonsense. Throughout it all, Dustin, always upbeat on drums, and Ralph, with his endless tales about Boudreaux’s shenanigans, kept us clapping, toe tapping, humming and laughing. And they’ll do it all again first and third Saturdays. YA’LL COME !

September 2 performance
The Barnyard Opry had their first Saturday performance on a beautiful late summer evening on September 2. The show started with none other than Elvis (Billy Cooper) performing some of the King’s greatest hits such as “She’s a devil in disguise” and passing out scarves and kissing the ladies in the audience. The Country Sound Band then performed. We all missed Bobby Ray who was at a national steel guitar convention in St. Louis. Larry Reynolds was the guest vocalist and sang, “Don’t close your eyes” among others. Ron Sennett did, “Take me home country roads.” Martin White did, “Don’t take her she’s all I got.” Steve Joyner did, “King of Road” and “Lean mean lady trucker.” Rodney did “She thinks I still care.” Ralph Brewer outdid himself with his ‘band-aid Boudreau’ and ‘not blond but brown haired woman’ jokes. Rodney closed the evening with a few lines of "Jesus paid it all" after Ralph had told about the importance of telling others about the free offer of eternal life that is available to everyone who places their faith in Jesus Christ.
